Digital Odyssey

My Digital Odyssey “Understanding Cultural Aspects” video was originally created in February 2024 as part of Informational Architecture II class. This video indicates the story of Talia, who is a graphic design major at Edinburgh College of Art. She is on a study abroad program to Boston as part of her Bachelor’s degree. Her research project is one of the requirements to complete. She completely had no idea what cultural aspects were and was also not very familiar with art history. She decides to go to the museum to explore more depth about displays as the best option. Talia wants to search for a display which is located in the Raphael Room. She follows the directions displayed by arrows and flower petals to the exhibit room. Next, Talia will notice an iconic red wallpaper with damask patterns which indicates that she is in the Raphael Room. When Talia gets to the destination, she scans the photo with her IPhone via AR format. This display is called “The Annunciation”. When Talia looks up on the museum website on her desktop, she reads the information of "The Annunciation”. She then realizes how this display’s cultural aspects are different from her nation’s cultural aspects. Talia finally noticed the big difference and she is clearly happy about it. Finally, Talia shares the photo and the podcast recorded by herself on Pinterest Tunes. That's how she understands cultural aspects. My approach for this project is to demonstrate the focus on comparing artworks originated from different countries with unique perspectives that artists had created. What is most important about this project is that I am strongly familiar with the Isabella Gardner Museum, so I get to know about the artworks that are mostly attractive to me such as art pieces in the Raphael Room. The Christianity form style including its background classical orchestral music, serif type, and floral patterns, is the most appropriate to the content of my Digital Odyssey because this exhibit and the museum Talia is visiting expresses the idea that this form style symbolizes true joy and fulfillment for humanity. For the website, it was completed on March 20, 2025. It is created through Figma and it is in a Macbook Pro 14” format. I made a lot of changes which included adjusting type spacing and sizing, balancing all elements, and reducing the text paragraph length for the whole website to easily be readable. I recorded the screen by only viewing the desktop website and computer. Then I edited it on iMovie by adjusting the music length due to the screen recording’s longer length than the original. I then recorded my voice over the new exported Digital Odyssey video via Premiere Pro.
